Rocket into reading!Last Summer's E.C. Read'n holiday programme was a great success. Children enjoyed hunting out books to read and tell us about. The programme this year celebrated our eleventh year of offering a summer reading programme to the children of Horowhenua with well over 100 children taking part. The theme of 'Rocket into reading! found both parents and children enthusiastic and the wonderful incentive gifts this year were well received. As usual our visiting storytellers were marvellous. Old favourites Mary Kippenberger and The Shah of Blah entertained with a mix of laughter and storytelling. Zappo the magician delighted the children with his tricks and had them laughing and joining in. Starfish entertained with singing and stories for both children and parents.
The Levin finale party was held at the Memorial Hall in Levin with Megan, Wendy, Barbara and Lara enjoying the celebration along with the children. All children who had completed four visits to the programme received a certificate, a dog tag and a book.
